ToggleIngredients for Ube Banana Smoothie

For approximately 2 servings, prepare:
- 120 g cooked ube, cooled and cut into small pieces
- 120 g ripe banana
- 180 ml fresh milk
- 80 g plain or Greek yogurt
- 80 g ice cubes
- 1–2 teaspoons honey, optional
You can also substitute cooked ube with ube halaya. If using sweetened ube halaya, reduce or completely omit the honey.
Important: Use cooked purple yam rather than raw ube. Cook and cool the ube completely before adding it to the blender.
Step 1: Prepare the Ube and Banana
If using fresh ube, peel and cut it into pieces before steaming or boiling until completely tender.
Allow the cooked ube to cool before blending.
Peel the banana and cut it into several pieces.
A ripe banana is recommended because it provides natural sweetness and helps create the thick, creamy texture associated with this smoothie.
Step 2: Add the Ingredients to the KU BB2012
Use the 1500 ml glass blending jar for approximately two servings.
Add the ingredients in the following order:
- 180 ml fresh milk
- 80 g yogurt
- 120 g banana
- 120 g cooked ube
- 80 g ice cubes
- Honey, if needed
Adding the liquid ingredients first makes it easier for the mixture to circulate around the blades during blending.
Make sure the jar is correctly positioned on the blender base before starting.
Step 3: Blend Until Smooth
Secure the lid and select the appropriate preset smoothie program.
Alternatively, begin blending at a lower speed before gradually increasing the speed until the ingredients are completely combined.
The KÜ KÜCHEN KU BB2012 is equipped with an 800W copper-core motor and six adjustable speed levels, allowing it to process both soft fruit and denser ingredients such as cooked ube.
Blend until the smoothie becomes thick, creamy and evenly purple with no visible pieces of banana or ube remaining.
Step 4: Adjust the Consistency
Check the smoothie after blending.
For a thicker Ube Banana Smoothie, add:
- A little more banana
- Extra cooked ube
- A few additional ice cubes
For a lighter consistency, add a small amount of fresh milk and blend briefly again.
Taste before adding honey, especially when using ripe banana or sweetened ube halaya.
Step 5: Serve the Ube Banana Smoothie
Pour the smoothie into a chilled glass and serve immediately.
For a simple topping, add:
- Banana slices
- A small spoonful of ube
- Chopped nuts
- Granola, optional
The finished smoothie should have a vibrant purple color, creamy consistency and balanced flavor combining earthy ube with naturally sweet banana.
For an even thicker version, reduce the milk slightly and serve the mixture as an Ube Banana Smoothie Bowl topped with banana, granola and nuts.
