STEAM AIR FRYER KXW180-180B RECIPES – Pork Siomai | KÜ KÜCHEN GERMANY

Pork Siomai is one of the most familiar and well-loved steamed dishes in the Philippines. With its juicy pork filling, vegetables, seasonings, and thin dumpling wrapper, it works equally well as a snack, appetizer, or part of a family meal.

In this edition of STEAM AIR FRYER KXW180-180B RECIPES, we prepare homemade Pork Siomai using the KÜ KÜCHEN Steam Air Fryer KXW180-180B and its dedicated steam function.

Thanks to its 16L cooking chamber and Turbo Steam system, the appliance can produce continuous steam inside the cooking chamber, making it especially suitable for dumplings and other steamed dishes.

Ingredients for Pork Siomai

Prepare the following ingredients:

  • 500 g ground pork
  • 120 g peeled shrimp, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, finely diced
  • 2–3 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 20–25 siomai or wonton wrappers

For garnish:

  • Finely diced carrot
  • Chopped spring onion

For serving:

  • Soy sauce
  • Calamansi
  • Chili garlic sauce

Step 1: Prepare the Pork Siomai Filling

Place the ground pork and chopped shrimp in a large mixing bowl.

Add the carrot, spring onion, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, black pepper, salt, egg, and cornstarch.

Mix everything thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture becomes slightly sticky.

This texture helps the filling hold together during steaming while keeping the finished Siomai tender and juicy.

Step 2: Shape the Siomai

Place one Siomai wrapper in the palm of your hand.

Add approximately 1 tablespoon of filling to the center.

Gently bring the edges of the wrapper upward around the filling, leaving the top open.

Press the sides lightly to create the traditional Siomai shape.

Add a small amount of diced carrot and spring onion on top for color.

Repeat until all the filling has been used.

Step 3: Prepare the KÜ KÜCHEN KXW180-180B

Fill the water reservoir of the KÜ KÜCHEN Steam Air Fryer KXW180-180B with enough clean water for the steaming cycle.

Arrange the Pork Siomai on the steaming tray, leaving a little space between each piece so steam can circulate evenly.

The KXW180-180B features Turbo Steam, in which steam is generated from the lower section of the appliance while the upper fan helps circulate moisture throughout the cooking chamber.

For Pork Siomai, use:

Steam Mode: F-1 – Pure Steam

This mode uses continuous steam and is designed for foods that need to be cooked completely with moisture rather than dry heat.

Step 4: Steam the Pork Siomai

Place the steaming tray inside the appliance.

A practical starting setting is:

Temperature: approximately 100°C
Cooking time: approximately 18–22 minutes

Steam until the wrappers become soft and slightly translucent and the pork filling is completely cooked.

Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size and thickness of each Siomai.

For food safety, the center of the pork filling should reach approximately 71°C or above.

Step 5: Check the Siomai

Near the end of the steaming cycle, carefully check one piece from the center of the tray.

The filling should be firm but still juicy, with no raw pink pork remaining inside.

Avoid steaming considerably longer than necessary, as excessive cooking can make the pork filling firmer and cause the wrappers to become too soft.

Once cooked, remove the tray carefully and let the Siomai rest for around 2–3 minutes before serving.

Step 6: Prepare the Dipping Sauce

A simple Filipino-style Siomai dipping sauce can be made by combining:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • Juice from 1–2 calamansi
  • Chili garlic sauce according to taste

Mix well and serve in a small dipping bowl.

For a milder version, simply combine soy sauce and calamansi.

Serve the Pork Siomai

Transfer the freshly steamed Pork Siomai to a serving plate.

Serve while warm with soy sauce, calamansi, and chili garlic sauce on the side.

Pork Siomai can be enjoyed as an appetizer, afternoon snack, merienda, or paired with rice and other dishes for a more complete meal.
